Training Module 1 – Forward to Basics

So, the first module on the Marketing with Alex coaching course is curiously entitled, “Forward to Basics”.

Forward?

The concept being that to run an online business, or any business come to that, implementing the business basics is a step in the right direction. It’s a step forward. It’s a crucial & fundemental requirement for anyone serious about starting and running a business. The basics are the foundations of a business, without which the business will fail.

So, what kind of basics are we talking about? (In no particular order).

1. Plan ahead i.e. have a plan of attack. Not just planning tomorrow or the week ahead – plan the next 12 months. Then break the 12 months down into manageable periods.
2. Set yourself business goals and targets. Visualize yourself acheiving those goals and start planning back from that time. For example in 12 months time imagine being able to quit your job. Then track back from that time and imagine where you will be 1 month prior to this – how much will you be earning? What kind of projects will you be working on? How big will your subscriber list be?
3. Not just business goals but entrepreneur goals and personal goals too. Holidays? Cars? Skills? Training?
4. Identify your constraints to being successful. It is more important to identify what you’re bad at then to realize what you’re good at, as it is these constraints which are holding you back from success. Identify them and take action to improve or remove them.
5. K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. Don’t over complicate things.
6. Above all TAKE ACTION!

You get the message i’m sure. There is obviously a lot more to it but it’s quite simply BUSINESS BASICS that we’re talking about here.

“But it’s obvious”, I hear you say…

“Tell me something I don’t already know”.

As Alex says in Module 1, “If you already know this, then why aren’t you a success?”

One of the enjoyable things I have found about Alex’s coaching is his, what I like to call, “ALEXISMS”. He admits himself that they don’t all originate from him but some of them are a joy to behold…

“If you don’t know where you’re going…How are you gonna get there?”

“An idiot with a plan will always beat a genius without one”

“Don’t be a busy fool”

…To name but a few examples of his Alexisms.

Another noteable part of this module is Alex’s continuous reminder about the following popular Internet Marketing Mantra…

“The Money Is In The List”.

If you’re unfamiliar with this concept then read on…

Quite simple really, in Internet Marketing, the most important part is to build a list of “warm” prospects. You then build relationships with them and give them value. You mustn’t take your eye off the ball – keep building the list & building relationships with that list. They come one by one – remember that every person on that list is a real person.
